About Jamie

Jamie Atkinson comes from a horsey background with both his parents having showjumped and his sister having represented Great Britain at Junior European level.

Jamie began riding when he was about 3 years old and progressed through the pony club until he was picked to represent Britain on the pony eventing team at the European Championships on two occasions.

Then followed a successful junior career with a 3rd and 5th place at the national Junior Championships before moving on to Young Rider level where he finished 5th in his first year at the National Young Rider Championships.

In 1995 Jamie helped the British Young Rider team secure silver medal at the European Championships.  A 2nd place at the National Championships came in his final Young Rider year all on board Salerosa.

Following on from the Young Riders and having completed an Economics degree at Nottingham University Jamie concentrates on eventing full time gradually expanding his yard at Waterford Equestrian.  He took Babiole du Cochet from a 5 year old through to four-star level winning the Scottish points Championship on two occasions.

Jamie has normally produced his horses from scratch taking many to advanced level although he has taken on some more established horses including High Times with which he won the international CCI** at Burgie.

Jamie's base at Waterford Farm, Durham now boasts exceptional facilities from which he can produce his expanding string of horses.
